Who is Bookish Mama?

Hi! I am Heather Walsh and I am an educator, writer, mama of three, and lover of literature. In 2019, as I was finding my way through early motherhood, I began looking for ways to process that new chapter of my life. My husband, who recognized my need for an outlet, happens to be a talented web developer. Bookish Mama was born, a labor of love.

In our “Reading” section, we've included content from my blog. You'll find musings about what I like to read, plant, and make for dinner. You'll find stories about raising kids and saying goodbye to parents. What I really hope you'll find, though, is connection. Whether you are a parent, a cook, a reader, or none of the above, I hope that you'll feel welcome amongst these pages.

Our “Shopping” section is the newest addition to Bookish Mama and home to our literary candle collection. Candles have earned a place next to the classics on my bookshelves for their ability to bring the cozy in a big way. Their soft glow and scent create an atmosphere that always enhances my mood, and what's better than candles inspired by our favorite stories? Practicing the art of candle-making has allowed me to engage with the books I love in a tactile way; I feel as if I am capturing a bit of their essence and bottling it up, like fireflies in a jar, to share with you.
